The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) recently made improvements to the State vital records system. These improvements have resulted in better death record matching in the Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS).
DHS provides certified death record information to SVRS to help identify voters who have become deceased. With the new vital records system, DHS is now providing names in a more standard format that will improve the matching with voter names. More complete address information is now being provided to assist clerks in determining if the deceased record is in fact the same person as the matched voter.
Because of these improvements, some municipalities may see a greater number of death matches created in November than in normal months. New death matches based on the improved data will begin appearing in SVRS tomorrow morning, Thursday November 28.
