At his State of the Union Address earlier this year, President Obama announced the formation of the President’s Commission on Election Administration, which was charged with exploring options to promote the efficient administration of federal elections and to improve the voting experience.  The Commission has held a number of public meetings and hearings throughout the country over the past several months, and G.A.B. Director and General Counsel Kevin Kennedy has been invited to provide testimony to the Commission at a meeting in Cincinnati later this month.

The Commission recently began conducting a survey of local election administration officials.  While this effort was not coordinated with the G.A.B., clerks have asked us about it and we certainly encourage you to participate in the survey if you are invited to do so.  This survey is legitimate and not any kind of scam.  It is an opportunity for the federal government to consider your input as the direct administrators of elections in Wisconsin.    Even if you are not asked to participate in their survey, you can still provide feedback to the Commission through its website, http://www.supportthevoter.gov.  You may also locate additional information about the Commission and its work at this website.
