There will be a statewide primary for Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Fall 2016 General Election

This General Election will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2016 for President, U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, even-numbered Wisconsin State Senate seats, all Wisconsin Assembly seats, and all District Attorneys.

Spring 2015 Election

Official results of the Spring Election have now been certified.

State offices elected April 7, 2015 include Justice of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals Judge (District I and III), and Circuit Court Judge.  There was also a Constitutional Amendment on Election of the Chief Justice.

Candidate Contact Information

To assist groups and individuals who wish to contact candidates for office, the G.A.B. has prepared an easy-to-use spreadsheet containing addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses of candidates for the February 17 Spring Primary.  The spreadsheet is attached below (2015 Spring Candidates Contact Information.xlsx).  This information is found on the candidates' GAB-1 registration forms, which are available on the Campaign Finance Information System website.

Deadlines for Getting on the Ballot

The first day to circulate nomination papers is December 1, 2014.  The deadline to file nomination papers and other ballot access documents is 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Click here for more information about getting on the ballot.

Notification of Non-Candidacy (GAB-163)

A list of incumbent officials who have filed a Notification of Non-Candidacy indicating that they will not seek reelection at the 2015 Spring Election will be attached below.  The list will be updated as notices are filed.  The deadline for filing is Friday, December 26, 2014.

Statewide Transporation Fund Referendum Approved

Voters approved a statewide referendum about creation of a Transportation Fund on the ballot.  . Click here for an explanation of the referendum.

Lists of Candidates and Referendum Questions

The most current lists of Candidates on the Ballot, Registered Write-in Candidates and referendum questions (2014 General Referendums) are attached below. The Excel spreadsheet below contains a list of all candidates for the 2014 General Election, with contact information based on their campaign committees and declaration of candidacy forms. Approved write-in candidates will not appear on the ballot but their votes will be tallied and listed separately on the canvass. 

Offices to be Elected

This election is for Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Representative in Congress, State Senator (odd-numbered districts) Representatives to the Assembly (all districts).  County offices up for election are Sheriff, Clerk of Circuit Court and Coroner (where applicable).

2012 Recall Elections: Governor, Lt. Governor and State Senator

Recall primaries were held May 8 and recall elections were held June 5, 2012 for the offices of Governor, Lt. Governor, and State Senators from Districts 13, 21, 23 and 29.

July 12 / August 9, 2011 Recall Elections

On June 3, 2011, the Government Accountability Board ordered recall elections for July 12, 2011 in the following State Senate Districts:

District 2 -- Senator Robert Cowles.  Senator Cowles retained his seat.

District 8 -- Senator Alberta Darling.  Senator Darling retained her seat.

District 10 -- Senator Sheila Harsdorf.  Senator Harsdorf retained her seat.

District 14 -- Senator Luther Olsen.  Senator Olsen retained his seat.

July 19, August 16, 2011 Recall Elections

On June 10, 2011, the Government Accountability Board ordered recall elections in the following State Senate Districts:

District 12 -- Senator Jim Holperin

There was a primary in District 12 on July 19, 2011, and a recall election was held on August 16, 2011. Senator Holperin retained his seat.

District 22 -- Senator Robert Wirch

There was a primary in District 22 on July 19, 2011, and a recall election was held on August 16, 2011. Senator Wirch retained his seat.

2015 Assembly District 99 Special Election

On July 29, 2015, the Governor issued an executive order calling a special election for State Assembly District 99.  See attachments below for details.

The special election ordered by Governor Walker to fill a vacant seat in Assembly District 82 held by Rep. Jeff Stone has been completed.

2013 Special Election for State Assembly District 98

On December 17, 2012, Governor Walker ordered a special election for State Assembly District 98 to be held on April 2, 2013. (Executive Order attached below.)

2013 Assembly Districts 21 and 69 Special Elections

Special Election: November 19, 2013.

Governor Walker has ordered two special elections to fill vacant seats in Assembly Districts 21and 69.  The G.A.B. certified official results November 29, 2013.

Partisan Primary: October 22, 2013.

2013 Special Election for State Assembly District 98

On December 17, 2012, Governor Walker ordered a special election for State Assembly District 98 to be held on April 2, 2013. (Executive Order attached below.)

2012 Special Election for State Senate District 33

On September 18, 2012, Governor Walker ordered a special election for State Senate District 33 to be held on December 4, 2012.

2011 Special Election for Assembly District 95

Governor Walker ordered a Special Election for November 8, 2011 to fill the vacant seat in Assembly District 95 in La Crosse County.

2011 Assembly District 48 Special Election

Governor Scott Walker on May 24 issued Executive Order # 31 for a Special Election to fill the vacancy in Assembly District 48.  The election was held August 9, 2011, with the primary held July 12, 2011.

Official results of the primary and the special election have been certified.
